South Korea has recently announced a plan for food supply monitoring, which includes the adoption of stringent food testing standards, similar to those currently used in the European Union. The plan sets out a total of 40,000 civilians to help monitor food safety and to ensure the labeling of food country of origin and of any genetically modified organisms. To manage this information, the government will setup an institute which will monitor and account for any instances of mad cow disease or GMO food products.
